New License Fees

This serves to notify Licensees that the Electricity Control Board (ECB) has amended the Electricity License fees as per the notice in the Government Gazette dated 22 July 2020.The effective date for the implementation of the new license fees is 1 March 2021. Take note that the newly introduced annual service fees will only be applicable to operational licensees.

The adjustment was considered necessary as the previous licence fee increase occurred in 2011. Recent developments in the industry such as the implementation of the Modified Single Buyer(MSB) Market Model and the National Integrated Resource Plan (NIRP) had resulted in an increase in the number of license applications administered by the ECB. The ECB has further increased the number of licensee compliance audits to ensure regulatory compliance.

The above resulted in the need for the review of the license fees.

The effective date for the implementation of the new license fees is 1 March 2021. Take note that the newly introduced annual service fees will only be applicable to operational licensees.
